چکیده
Calving is one of the most challenging and painful experiences for dairy cattle a process that involves coping with physical physiological changes, as well environmental management-related stressors. In recent years, it has been argued application cow behaviour knowledge might facilitate their efficacious management during calving. This review aims to summarise discuss current regarding behavioural changes occur around calving time. The relationship between behaviour, practices, conditions in raised intensive indoor production systems, pasture-based also discussed. Relationship between dairy cow genetic merit and profit on commercial spring calving dairy farms.
Because not all animal factors influencing profitability can be included in total merit breeding indices for profitability, the association between animal total merit index and true profitability, taking cognisance of all factors associated with costs and revenues, is generally not known. One method to estimate such associations is at the herd level, associating herd average genetic merit with ...
متن کاملPre-Calving and Calving Management Practices in Dairy Herds with a History of High or Low Bovine Perinatal Mortality
Bovine perinatal mortality is an increasing problem in dairy industries internationally. The objective of this study was to determine the risk factors associated with high and low herd-level calf mortality. Thirty herds with a history of either high (case) or low (control) calf mortality were recruited. A herd-level questionnaire was used to gather information on management practices likely to ...

COW/CALF MANAGEMENT Minimizing Calving Difficulty in Beef Cattle
Calving difficulty (dystocia) contributes heavily to losses in production in beef cow/calf herds. The obvious losses are due to calves or cows that die at or soon after calving. Less noticeable losses are due to delayed rebreeding, more open females, an extended calving season and increased labor costs. While occasional dystocia is almost unavoidable, through proper management, cattlemen can mi...
